I love Halloween!!! I like coming up with a costume and I LOVE coming up with my makeup whether it be a freaky zombie or a sparkly princess. This year I decided to be Poison Ivy, no not the plant. Poison Ivy is a batman character; she’s a bad guy or girl in this case. I’d also like to mention that I love the Batman movies and cartoons. When I was younger I would watch all the movies and cartoons with my younger brother and we would even make Batman puzzles together. It was loads of fun.

In 1997 Warner Brothers released Batman & Robin the 3^rd installment in their Batman series, the villains were Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy played my Uma Thurman. I based my version of the character on a combination of the cartoon and movie looks. I think it was a success and to my surprise quite of few people knew that I was going for Poison Ivy. Kudos to them!

I only used my Dr. Dima’s Cosminology Minacles clinical mineral coverage to create this look.

I prepped my face with my CosmicRay Shield and Galactic Glove then followed with AstroThena mineral foundation.

I primed my eye with my KharmicKoncealer and then applied AstroMagic eye shadow all over my lid.

I used the eye liner AstroJade to add drama to my look by creating a large arch over my eye brow, I wet my brush removed the excess water and dipped it into my AstroJade compact I was then able to blend the color on my skin and apply as many layers as needed to create the depth that I wanted. It looked as though it was painted on my skin and I dusted just a little of the AstroMagic on top.

I defined the arch with eye liner AstroRain, and then to add a little sullenness to my eyes I applied it under my eyes.

I dusted some AstroBerry on the cheeks and applied AstroFaith to the lips.

I was now all set for a very fun and beautiful Halloween.

Oh and yes those are my Latisse lashes that you see, no j/k the only thing on face not from Cosminology was the green lashes that I found at a Halloween store.

I was very thankful that I was able to create this look with the products I already had and that they were all mineral based. I had a lot on to create the drama I was going for and knowing that they weren’t going to break me out put me at ease. I also easily removed my face with Global Debris Remover, it got me cosmically naked.

MissRo here! I had to title this post with that line, because that is what’s on the bottle for Dr. Dima’s Cosmic Ray Shield SPF36 Your Skin’s Solar Eclipse™. Actually, it specifically says “I worship my skin, not the sun” and you should too!

I have been using this moisturizer since day one when I started using the Cosminology line. I LOVE IT! Funny enough for the past few years I have been using a day cream with either no SPF or only an SPF of 6. I know, I know, it’s not good, but my foundation powder had an SPF of 15 in it so I figure I was good.

The first observation I made was that the SPF was 36. I have to be honest, I was skeptical, because I don’t like using anything that has a high SPF. My next observation was that the cream had a pink-ish hue, I thought that was interesting. I pumped out a little cream in my hand and started to put it on. It had the perfect consistency and it smelled really good. It went on beautifully, felt really good, and my makeup went on flawlessly.

So let’s talk about the ingredients. Micronized Zine Oxide, Tamanu Oil, Aloe Vera, and Beta Carotene.

Micronized Zinc Oxide, is absorbable, non-irritating, non-comedogenic and hypo-allergenic. Dr. Dima’s formulation is transparent, not pasty white. It’s even safe for childres! and blocks ionizing UVA/UVB cosmic rays.

Tamanu Oil, is an extract that has various skin benefits from stimulating collagen synthesis to reducing skin redness (unless you’re blushing from too many compliments about how good you look!).

Aloe Vera, is a soothing botanical that relieves sun-exposed skin providing light hydration.

Dear Dr. Dima,
Every winter my skin gets very, very dry. I’ve tried so many moisturizers but none of them really work and some leave my skin feeling really greasy. Can you please help?

Dear Wendy,
What a relevant question for this time of year! We’re all on the verge of a very predictable cycle that goes something like this: cold weather approaches > complaints of dry skin increase > moisturizer sales rise > dry skin gets worse > we buy “better, stronger” creams and lotions that we use more frequently and so on…Unfortunately, the “moisture myth,” has as much validity as the old wives tale about catching a cold if you go out with wet hair. The fact is that moisturizing is one of the biggest marketing ploys in the history of skincare because it masks
rather than treats the underlying cause of dry skin.

The uppermost layer of skin is called the stratum corneum and it’s where cells called keratinocytes replicate. This is the layer we slather with a variety of moisturizers promising to keep skin youthful, soft and “hydrated.” However, moisturizing (or, more specifically, over moisturizing) is analogous to filling a balloon with a hole at the bottom…you’ll never get it full, even if you continue to fill it because it’s leaking at the other end. When skin feels dry, it’s because the intercellular lipids (the “rich fluid” that bathes the cells) is reduced leading to a
decrease in the barrier function of the skin. Most of the moisturizers on the market do not contain the ingredients needed to boost, repair and protect the intercellular matrix. Some of these vital ingredients include amino acids, fatty acids, hyaluronic acid and phospholipids. These bind together to make the “mortar” that holds the keratinocytes (“the bricks”) together. Whether the necessary ingredients to protect and maintain the integrity of healthy skin are packaged in a toner, a night cream, a serum, a sunblock or a traditional “moisturizer” is irrelevant. If the matrix between the keratinocytes is constantly disrupted, even the heaviest moisturizer won’t help.

The bottom line is that it’s not about moisturizing at all. It’s about applying the right product to replenish and “SKINSULATE” your largest organ to allow proper functioning of your cells and prevention of water loss. Meg here! I want to be very honest-I like my cocktails, I like my ciggs and I never get enough sleep or have a proper diet. In my teenage years I liked to use tanning beds and would lie sunscreen free in the sun. I have a few responsible qualities…I’m sure they’ll come to me sooner or later.

Oh, got one! I usually read directions. That does not apply to my review of the following product. Cosminology has a DAY cream that is “Big Bang Those Light Years Away! Hi-Plutonic C Antioxidant Cream.” Ok, I am an idiot-because I thought this was amazing as a night cream.

First of all, it’s (for lack of a more descriptive term) buttery. No, It’s not like a greasy stick of butter. It’s consistency is sort of like those really high end body butters. It is really decadent and you only need a dime size amount and you will have a luxuriously covered face. It feels like it’s thick but the spreading consistency is divine. It doesn’t ball up flake. Here’s the scientific part I don’t understand-for all of it’s fabulous richness it absorbs extremely quickly into your skin. I hate going to bed all slick-WHICH IS WHY IT IS A DAY CREAM. Nothing’s worse in the morning then being in a race with the clock and having to wait for your face to dry so you can apply your paint!  I digress…

My face felt really soft, as if I had just used a primer. My face was baby-soft so not only does this have medical properties but it does do a dual job working as a makeup primer.

You all know I am a vitamin C face junkie. Well, this is created by a very famous dermatologist so there are epic levels of vitamin C in this potion. In fact, my face felt a slight warming sensation once I had it fully coated.

My facial warmness felt just as I described it-warm. There was no harsh burning and I consider (unlike the rest of my being) my facial sensitivity level to be quite normal.

In the morning, after I hop out of the shower I have seen a difference in the tone of my skin. I have been using this product for about 12 days. Tomorrow I am going to use it correctly, I’m going to give it a shot for the daytime. This is leaving me in a conundrum as I have grown so fond of it at night. No slick face? Super sexy bedroom softness for my pillow and zero medicinal odor?

I’m really impressed with what I have gotten from this line. I hope to turn more of you on to Cosminology. The packaging does not do justice to how incredible the product inside is. It’s a double edged sword. If the package mimicked the product I fear this jar would run into the hundreds.

I am giving Cosminology’s Big Bang Those Light Years Away 5 Champagne flutes-keep in mind I am possessive of my champagne.

Who else has a miracle product that follows true to the “can’t judge a book by its cover?” I mean, seriously, we’re not putting the damn jar itself on our face. This is really great stuff! click here to got to link
